Galesburg, Illinois

August 2014 and a stop in Galesburg in the late afternoon after driving from Greenfield, Indiana on the way home from dropping Allie and Harune off at College in Ohio.  Galesburg is a busy freight and Amtrak location and I stopped by at the Amtrak station to watch the arrival of a passenger train and snap a few shots.

Station (actually open from early morning until mid evening and very busy)

Revisiting Randolph Minnesota

Kate and I went to a Train Show in Randolph Minnesota in late March of this year and I brought the camera along as I remebered that one of my favorite train photos taken, was from Randolph, probably at least 10 years ago.

Here it is ~

So, trying to find the same location for the shot proved difficult, as there has been a lot of construction in the passing years. After several attempts, I came up with a few shots that are fairly close, though the lack of a zoom lens (left at home) prevents a better match…

Winston, Missouri

Driving from Kansas City to Iowa on October 30, 2013 and stopped in this small town to buy some stamps and mail some bills.  Population of about 250, they still had a working Post Office and remnants of a train station.

Iowa Falls, IA

Recently, we stayed the night in Iowa Falls, IA. When on an early morning run, I noticed this cool double bridge/arch near the downtown area. So, on the way out of town, I tool a few photos. Unfortunately, when I came back there was an inspection truck on the tracks, not a train.

Hill City, SD

During an October 2011 trip to the Black Hills of Western South Dakota, I was able to snap a few photos at the Hill City Train Museum and 1880 train.  Unfortunately, both were closed.

Mid – Continent Railway

This past Memorial Day Weekend, we traveled to Southern Wisconsin for a Volleyball tournament.  These trips are great opportunities for Train Photos.   An added bonus was a trip to the Mid Continent Railway Museum and Preservation Yards in North Freedom, WI.

It really is an impressive assembly of vintage train engines, cars, and equipment – all having been restored, or being restored. I was able to snap several photos, with a few appearing here.
